I was able to fly back to Australia but then a couple of days later ended up in hospital so that my platelet and white blood cell levels could be monitored. It was a little bit of a circus, as there aren't that many cases of Dengue in Adelaide, yet the relief was that I was home for Christmas.I was certainly not at my best as much time was spent on the couch and much cricket was watched but I slowly felt better and began to have more energy. I was just lucky to be with family and enjoy most of the Christmas treats, as well as tomatoes, cucumbers and apricots straight from the garden.

I managed to make a quick trip to Melbourne to attend the Job Fair; this time on the other side of the fence, as a recruiter for AIS. A very interesting experience!
Catching up with a few good friends and eating some great food were also highlights.
Now that I am back in Saigon, I am going to work and doing not much else, as I still don't have my normal energy levels back, but I am enjoying being in the land of pho and banh mi and the very mild weather.

To keep me entertained, I have read a couple of great books: Stoner by John Williams and The People Smuggler by Robin de Crespigny. TV viewing has included series of Orange is the New Black, Borgen and Newsroom and now, the tennis!
So, all in all life ain't that bad - maybe I just needed a gentle reminder to slow down.
